Te Puke High School is a friendly future-focused school with approximately 1000 students from 13 to 18 years of age. We aim to provide quality learning experiences for each and every student. Te Puke High School places great importance on academic achievement and will do the utmost to provide international students with an educational programme that best meets their learning needs, including English language support if required.
International students can choose their course of study from a wide range of curriculum subjects. In addition, international students are encouraged to get involved in the many sports and arts co-curricular activities on offer.
Te Puke is an ideal location for international students to have a wonderful New Zealand experience being semi-rural and near the beautiful coastline. It is part of the wonderful Western Bay of Plenty region and close by are the other main centres of Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, Rotorua and Whakatane which offer a lot for students to see and do.
Our school is committed to ensuring that students are exposed to and have access to a range of learning information and technology solutions. Multimedia teaching facilities are available in every classroom. Currently there are 8 computer labs available for general school use as well as specialist ICT pods in Art, Technology, ESOL and Careers departments.
The School also has access to a wide range of sporting facilities. These include a gymnasium for indoor volleyball, basketball and badminton, a 33 metre eight-laned pool and deep water polo training pool, rugby and soccer fields and nine tennis courts.
International students at Te Puke High School must live with either: Parents or Legal Guardian, Designated Caregiver (nominated by the parents) or a Homestay Family arranged by Te Puke High School. All our homestays are visited and selected by our Director of International Students once New Zealand police checks have been obtained.
We aim to provide our international students with the best New Zealand family experience during their stay and ensure that our families are friendly, active, and provide a warm and caring environment. Every attempt is made to match the student with a family who will best meet their needs.
