The University of Waikato is one of New Zealand's most modern and innovative universities and believes in innovation and forward thinking and is constantly developing programmes to cater to the world’s changing industry environment.
The University and Bay of Plenty Polytechnic have joined forces in 2009 and now share facilities in Tauranga at Windermere Campus and Bongard Centre.
Classes are delivered by University of Waikato lecturing staff - either Tauranga based or commuting from the Hamilton campus, enabling students to obtain a University of Waikato degree in Tauranga which is recognised worldwide. Waikato University graduates are employed in all levels of industry around the globe.
Completing a diploma at Bay of Plenty Polytechnic will enable students to transfer credit directly into the second or third year of University of Waikato's Bachelor degree study and graduate with two qualifications.
In the nationwide research rankings completed in 2007, the University of Waikato was ranked No. 1 amongst New Zealand universities in the following subjects: Business, Accounting, Communications, Journalism and Media Studies, Music, Literary Arts and other Arts, Chemistry, Computer Science, Ecology, Evolution and Behaviour, Biology, Mathematics, and Education
