Toi Ohomai

Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology is the amalgamation of two high performing institutes – Bay of Plenty Polytechnic and Waiariki Institute of Technology. We are home to almost 14,000 students, more than 1,000 staff and offer more than 150 programmes over 68 delivery sites. The 68 delivery sites when mapped out on the map of New Zealand makes up our very own constellation, a gathering together of excellence of people, partnerships shared knowledge and innovation.

Our new name, Toi Ohomai, means to aim high and achieve great heights, to be awakened by learning.

Due to the scale of Toi Ohomai’s size, it now means we have the resources to do even better for the wider region – enabling delivery of the outcomes needed for the economic and social development of the Bay of Plenty.

Toi Ohomai offers direct pathways into one of New Zealand’s top universities - The University of Waikato. These pathways enable students to credit Toi Ohomai diplomas into University of Waikato bachelor degrees. Most students completing the degree pathway will gain two internationally recognised qualifications in the same time that it usually takes to gain one single bachelor degree, at the lowest cost of any university in New Zealand. Through these pathways, international students have the benefit of both practical and theoretical learning – an aspect highly valued by employers.
