Summer Start Programme

If you are an international student who has just finished year 13 at a New Zealand high school then the University of Waikato’s new Summer Start Programme is the perfect option!

Starting on 11 January 2021, and running for 6 weeks, this programme is an opportunity for you to prepare for success in your tertiary studies.

The Summer Start Programme fee is $5,500 and covers a university-level paper, academic skills preparation classes, and co-curricular activities run each Friday.

Over the Summer Start programme, you can even stay in University accommodation if you’d like to! You can experience Waikato’s largest hall of residence, College Hall - at an extremely discounted rate!

Summer School

Did you know you can start a new undergraduate or postgraduate degree over summer with the University of Waikato’s C trimester start date?

C Trimester runs from November 16 - February 21 and is a great way to ensure you complete your degree programme early!

Study at the Hamilton or Tauranga campus in C trimester and you will receive a generous financial bursary to offset your tuition fees.

If you are a school leaver and you want to study in Hamilton, you will automatically receive the 20% bursary for your first year of study to a maximum of 120 points. If you are enrolling in an undergraduate programme at our Tauranga campus, you will automatically receive a

$10,000 bursary.

Bay Learning Academy – Summer Holiday Programme

We invite all International Students across New Zealand to join our Special Summer Holiday programme from January 4th. to January 22nd.

  • This programme, while packed with lots of holiday fun and laughs will also provide you with an excellent opportunity to improve your academic English language skills in terms of essay writing, note taking, research. reading with understanding, speaking, and listening in English.
  • Classes will be held to meet individual language needs from elementary through to preparation and  head start for NCEA Level 2 English and IELTS.

Afternoon Activity Options: (other possibilities will be added.)

Surfing, Kayaking, Cycling, Mini golf, Rock climbing, Maori Culture, Swimming, Fishing, Boat trip to outer islands, Rotorua Redwood Forest canopy walk through the tree-tops, Bush walking and an over- night farm stay.

We invite students to join us this Summer at Bay Learning Academy where students learn through activities, in a strong fun and welcoming language school located in the beautiful and relaxing Bay of Plenty.
